|
A well known philanthropist
and author, Rohini Nilekani has been associated
with
Akshara Foundation since its inception in 2000.
Passionate about development issues, she is associated
with a number of not for profit initiatives. She
is the Chairperson and co- founder of Pratham Books,
a non-profit publishing enterprise that produces
children’s books. She is also the Chairperson
and founder of Arghyam, which promotes equity and
sustainability in access to water. |

Vice Chairperson |

| Mr. Naik, IAS, is the
Commissioner for Public Instruction, Government
of Karnataka and is an ex-officio member of the
Board. |

Ashok Kamath
Managing Trustee |
|
| Ashok Kamath is the
Managing Trustee and has been actively involved
in the strategic planning, analysis and expansion
of programmes at Akshara Foundation since 2003.
An alumnus of IIT, Mumbai, he was formerly the Managing
Director of the Indian operation of Analog Devices.
He opted to leave behind a successful career in
the corporate sector and involve himself in the
development sector. Ashok is also a trustee of Pratham
Books and PROOF. |

|
| Madhukar is a founding
member of Akshara Foundation and was instrumental
in the growth of the organization in its formative
years. He was an Edward S. Mason Fellow at Harvard
University and is currently Director, PRS Legislative
Research, which is being incubated at the Centre
for Policy Research, New Delhi. |

Pai |

Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. |

|
| Rekha Menon is the India
Geographic Services Lead at Accenture and has been
on Akshara Foundation’s Board of Trustees
since 2004. She has participated in the growth of
the organization by providing regular strategic
direction to Akshara Foundation’s programmes. |

Suzanne Singh |
|
| Suzanne Singh has been

management graduate, she has over 12 years experience
in the advertising and marketing fields. She is

Kanchan Bannerjee |
|
| Kanchan Bannerjee, a
sociologist, is trained in communications and teaching
children with learning disabilities. She has been
associated with the planning and execution of several
of Akshara Foundation’s programmes since 2000.
Kanchan founded Jyoshika in 1997 to improve reading
skills of government school children, and also conducts
skill training in local languages for the NGO sector. |
